A social media strategy for a criminal barristers’ chambers

A good copywriter I knew introduced me to the practice manager at a criminal barristers’ chamber. They had been looking at how to run their social media for some time and needed help to pull together and social media strategy that they could present to the board.

They found the world of social media a bit of a minefield. They had multiple platforms that they were using in a sporadic way, and they weren’t sure if what they were doing was what they should be doing on social media.

Cue bringing me in.

Social media goals and competitor analysis

As always, I was keen to understand their motivations and objectives for their social media presence and in this instance, it was to increase brand awareness of the chambers.

I spent some time looking at the chamber’s competitors to see how they were approaching their social media channels. Conducting a competitor analysis always gives me a good idea of the playing field and what we are dealing with. After establishing what their competitors were doing well and not so well, I then took to reviewing the chambers social media too.

Social media strategy for Twitter and LinkedIn

I reviewed their Twitter and LinkedIn presence both for a personal and company standpoint. I was able to provide them with a host of recommendations that would help them up their social media game on both platforms.

I also talked them through how they might want to implement a follower strategy too. People often forget this but the better-quality followers you have the more eyeballs you will have on your content!

Lastly, we looked at social media templates on Canva as well as what anatomy of good post on LinkedIn and Twitter might look like.

Implementing the plan in-house

My aim was to arm them with all the information that they needed to take implement the strategy in-house. After a debrief session with the practice manager she said that she was delighted with the plan and that I had made it practical for them to implement. They are now working through my plan and recommendations with their team. I’ll be checking back for updates!
