360 degree marketing review for an energy consulting firm

An energy consultancy company approached me for a marketing review. The head of the consultancy had been running the marketing for the business and was looking for a fresh eye to go over the marketing and business development activities. He was looking for recommendations on how to make the most impact with the marketing and business development they could do and identify any weak spots.

I quickly got to work by talking to several people across the business, from the head of consultancy, to the owners of the business to a selection of employees. My aim was to get a 360-degree understanding of marketing across the business and at different levels too. I wanted to give employees a confidential space to share their issues and what they felt could be improved.

Spotting the marketing issues

When working through the review, it became clear quite quickly that they were doing most marketing activity correctly and it did get me thinking where the core issues were. My main findings from the review really focused on their weak spots such as the fact they weren’t making the most of their thought leadership marketing campaigns. They also had an issue with time and resource to produce content for the firm too (a typical issue for professional service firms that I come across).

Campaign Longevity and Resourcing

I produced a set of recommendations both across marketing and business development activities that they could improve upon. I also suggested a campaign plan to really make the most of their content as well as resourcing solutions to help drive the content and the marketing forward.

After the plan they then brought me on, in a consultancy capacity, to help them implement their recommendations as well as being there to support them with advice and guidance on any marketing activity that they decided to take forward.
