To vlog of not to vlog

To Vlog or Not to Vlog

Helen Cox MarketingMany of us know that blogging can really help with creating and promoting your brand. But what happened if you decided to take it to the next level and vlog?

Vlogging or video blogging can really resonate with your target audience. However, you will need to make sure that you know what types of vlog to make and keep an eye on the types of vlogs that your viewers are engaging the most with.

So, if you’re thinking about delving in to the world of vlogging and want to know where to start I have put together some different approaches you can use to start making your first vlog.

Vlog a picture presentation

A simple, and also a popular form of vlog are presentations of still images. These usually last as much as 5 minutes and all the images follow a specific theme. You can add text to the images or in between the images in order to make sure that your message really gets across. Powerpoint is great for this and has the option to record your slide shows.

An expert interview

Interviews are made to be presented on video, and they make for a great vlog too. Not only do they make sure that your content is fresh, but your audience may also find the information in the interview really useful too.

By interviewing experts in their field and asking their opinions, you are providing something of value to your audience. You will also be able to position yourself as the go-to expert on certain issues and your interviewees will help add kudos.

You can choose one person to create a series of interviews or change the experts that you have each and every week. The choice really is down to you but interviewing one person over a series of topics will be super-efficient…just saying.

A how to guide

Do you have a product that you feel could benefit from a how-to video? If you do, then why not create one? Not only are these useful videos for your customers, but they also give you a chance to show off one or two of your amazing products too! It’s such a simple video to make but often overlooked.

Vlog your blog

One of the simplest ways you could make your vlog is taking your blog posts and creating an adapted version for your vlog. It’s that simple – maybe bring a different angle to it but essentially there isn’t anything stopping you doing something similar but different.

Give a ‘behind the scenes’ view of your business

Customers really value being able to see the inner workings of a business. This could be everyday office life, or perhaps when you attend a special event. Creating a vlog that is more casual in its approach really helps your audience get under the skin of your business.

It humanises your company and builds trust too, both important aspects in the success of your business. You can also get some of your employees involved, giving them all a chance to be a part of the vlog.

You don’t need to be an expert director to make the most of vlogging for your business. All you need is a webcam as well as some great ideas. In no time at all you will be on your way to creating videos that will be a great promotional tool for your business and make sure that you maximise your potential reach and appeal!
