Be an SEO superstar
Understanding and embracing SEO is important when living and running a business in an online world, so you need to be paying attention to your online presence.
Try out these simple tips and see what they can do to help you boost your website and be where you want to be.
Be a social media sharer
Whilst social media is not going to improve your SEO directly, what it can do is improve the awareness of your brand. This means that you are likely to see more and more traffic coming to your website and in turn an improvement in your ranking.
Consistency is the key to social media, you need to keep your name and brand the same across any platform that you use so that you are recognisable. You also need to encourage your followers to share your posts as this will increase your visibility all the more.
Have a neat and tidy website
The structure of your website is more important then you realise. Humans are lazy and we don’t like to have to click through too many times to find what we are looking for. This means that you should aim for your pages to never be more than 3 clicks away from the homepage. Not only this, you need to make sure that the headings and the menu are clear and easy to negative else you may find that people get bored of trying to make sense of it all.
Master metadata and SEO
Despite the fact that metadata doesn’t directly have an impact on your page ranking, this doesn’t mean that you can ignore it. What it does do is generate clicks as it shows those people who are searching that they have landed in the right place. When it comes to mastering metadata the basics is to keep it snappy and make sure that you have plenty of keywords too.
Add some authority links
External links sometimes get a bad rap, that they are going to send visitors away from your website. Quite the opposite is true, by offering up links to the high domain authority, you are going to provide useful information that can provide reference and also increase the credibility of your website too. Not only this, but search engines love some backlinks too.
Be mobile friendly
Mobiles have developed over the past few years to become more than just a way to call and text. They are shopping devices, social media devices, cameras and game consoles. Which means to get ahead you are going to make sure they are your friend. Search engines really rate websites that are mobile friendly, which means that you need to take the time and spend the money on your website to make sure that it matches what people want.
Always keep it fresh
If you want to keep interest in your website then you need to make sure that there is new content for people to read. Not only does this keep the interest of your readers, but Google’s search bots also are attracted to fresh new content and this will help if you want to boost your rankings.
Be aware though, these bots are clever and they know when a blog, article or website content is spammy or full of keywords and they do not take kindly to this!
As you can see, it doesn’t have to be hard to make SEO work for you.
