Learning to love content development

When it comes to marketing your business, one thing that you absolutely have to get to grips with is content. Content is not only king, but it can be hard to put together. Especially when you think that one single content marketing plan could include as much as 4 eBooks and 70 blog posts.

Not only this but if you don’t pay attention to your content marketing plan, then you may find that your business falls behind your competitors. Which is the last thing that you are going to want.

To make sure that you keep up with content marketing and that you make it as easy as possible to do for your business, then take a look at some of the ways that we think you can stay on top of it.

Recognise your strengths, as well as your weaknesses

Every single business out there has a range of people working for them. Which means that they have a range of talents too. When it comes to writing a blog post it is all too easy to discount someone in your business. Assigning it to someone who won’t know what to write or topics to cover. Find people in your business who have the right skills, talents and of course knowledge to allow them to put together a blog post or two. Not only will this mean that your blog posts are of the highest standard, but you are also going to be boosting morale too.

Don’t be afraid to repeat yourself with content development

By this, I don’t mean sharing the same blog over and over again. Instead, if you have written a great eBook that you don’t think many people have read. Share sections of this as a blog post and encourage them to download the eBook in full. You could also use a recent webinar or perhaps details of an event that you have attended. This will help you put together details that are going to really make things easier as well as making sure that when you share content that it covers all the bases.  I say you don’t really need to keep reinventing the wheel. Repurpose as much content as you can. For instance, at the moment I am repurposing my blogs into vlog content. Why not if it’s still relevant.

Hire someone externally for content development

If you find that you simply don’t have anyone in your business that can help you to create great content. Perhaps it is time to look externally. You can hire a freelance writer who might not know your business in and out but will know how to research and put together a great blog that is going to put you ahead in your content marketing efforts.  You can’t do everything. Sometimes just sitting there staring at a blank piece of paper isn’t a good use of anyone’s time!

As you can see, content can be easy. You can create blog posts and eBooks that are not only well written but going to promote and advertise your business. And everything that it can do for its clients.
