Why is marketing important

Why is marketing important

Helen CoxSomething that I am asked on a regular basis is whether or not marketing is actually important? We know that it may seem like a waste of time and money, but, in reality, there isn’t that much of a chance that a client is going to stumble across you without some gentle encouragement from your side.

The thing that puts many people off marketing their firm, is that it takes time, effort and money. However, we think that this is a real shame as making the effort with marketing can actually prove to be a truly worthwhile and valuable addition to your business.

Want to know more? Well, to help show you the importance of marketing, I have put together some of the things that should inspire you to make an effort to promote your business.

It helps you to engage with your clients

Whilst the idea of marketing is that it is to promote your firm, it actually does so much more than that. Marketing is a great way to encourage you to engage with your clients, something that can be all too easy to forget. It ensures that you tell them more about what they can expect from you and to answer any questions that they may have.

It builds your reputation

When you run any type of business or service provider, the key is that you are always seen in a positive light with your clients, whether they are ongoing, past or perhaps possible in the future. Making an effort to market your business means that you are doing whatever you can to build up its reputation and ensure that you are seen in a positive light. Something that can prove to be hugely valuable for you, particularly in the long term.

It keeps clients informed

Your clients like to know what is happening with your firm, which means that you need to find an effective way to share news, events and anything else that is relevant. Marketing works for this purpose. You can use it to promote yourself and the things that you have to offer potential clients, but you can also use it to keep those established clients, past or present, up to date with other things that you have going on. It is a great way to ensure that your clients feel that they have an up to date reflection of where you are at and how that impacts them.

You stay relevant

If you are working within a busy industry such as law or accountancy, then you are going to want to make sure that you don’t fall behind the crowd. This means doing whatever you can to stay relevant and to stay visible. When you market yourself, you are ensuring that you stay on your client’s radar, that they know you are around, and, should they need any help in the future, that you will still be there.

As you can see, there are a variety of reasons why marketing is important for you to try and make an effort in. Whether it is to engage with your clients, share your news or perhaps just to stay on top of the pile, make sure that it is something that you are doing on a regular basis.
