Nail your niche
Many businesses hope that they will create a service or product that is going to appeal to the masses. After all, this is going to have a huge impact on the number of sales that you make as a business. Unfortunately, this means that many companies shy away from the idea of being niche.
Whilst niche may mean that you are narrowing your market, you are actually increasing your sales.
But why is this? Why does it pay to target your marketing efforts and make yourself a little more niche?
Having a niche creates an emotional connection
If you are trying to target to a large audience, then chances are that plenty of people simply ignore what you are trying to say. In comparison, if you are opting for a niche market, then there is a much better chance that they will have an emotional connection with what you are trying to say and then, in turn, connect with your product too.
It allows you to be more personal
One great way to appeal to your target audience is to be personal in your approach. Everyone likes to feel that they have been treated personally and if you have a narrow, targeted marketing campaign then chances are that you are going to be able to make it a whole lot more personal too.
It ensures that you stand out
We all want to be able to stand out from the crowd, particularly when it comes to marketing our business. Being a niche company that has a particular appeal to an industry or a type of client means that you are going to stand out from the rest. Rather than being a run of the mill company there will be something special about you and of course what you can offer too.
You can focus your efforts
Knowing your target market and your niche will also mean that you will be super focused on the type of marketing you do. If you are trying to appeal to the masses then you probably will be trying every channel out there, with a generic message, with the hope to capture their attention.
But if you think what would happen if you said well I am going to focus on professional service firms like law or accountancy. Every piece of content will be relevant to them and you will challenge yourself to only really be in the places where your audience is. It helps make your marketing more productive and more efficient.
Marketing your business is never easy, but there are things that you can do to make it that little bit simpler. You may not be able to offer a niche product or service, but you can make it feel that way. All you need to do is concentrate your marketing and even try scaling it back somewhat too!
Don’t try to be everything to everyone – it never works! Then you will have all the power of being niche, whilst still seeing the sales that you can achieve when you appeal to a larger audience.
