Marketing Strategies for your accountancy firm

Helen CoxWith an Accountancy firm being a busy industry, there are definite peaks and troughs to be seen. The clients looking for this service are relatively steady flowing. The only thing is because it is a busy industry, this means that you are going to have to do your best to make sure that you stand out.

Marketing (or should that be getting it right) can be the make or break of a successful accountancy firm. It is never something that you should overlook.

The trouble is, the idea of marketing can be something that is relatively alien to an accountancy firm. In the most part, many will miss the mark. To help ensure that the money you invest in your marketing works as it should for you. I have put together my guide to the key marketing strategies that you should have in place.

Always have a plan for your accountancy firm

As with many things in life, it is always a good idea to start off with a plan. Not having one means that it is going to be much easier to get lost, or not reach the goals that you have in mind. A marketing plan is going to allow you to look at what it is that you want to do, the tools that you have at your disposal to do this as well as any potential hurdles in your way. You can use it to make sure that you are following the right steps and you can also use it as a way to track your progress too.

Remember that networking is your friend

Now, we know that networking is often met with a roll of the eyes and a sigh, but networking can actually prove to be incredibly useful. When you network you are meeting potential clients face to face or people that may be able to refer you. This means that you are giving them one of the best impressions that you can. You may not see it as a form of marketing, but it is actually one of the most powerful tools that you have open to you to use.

Follow up with clients

If you have completed a project, then chances are that you will file it away and forget about it. This does make sense, as it means that you are moving on to something new, but there is actually no harm in following up with completed clients. Not only does this improve your chances of receiving a testimonial that you can use to promote yourself to new clients online but, you are also reminding them of who you are and what you can do.

This, in turn, means that they are much more likely to get in touch with you in the future and ask you to do some more work for them.

We know that marketing can be hard, but it is not impossible, you just need to think of the marketing approaches that are going to work best for you and put them in place. If you do this, then you can be sure that you will bring in new clients and that you will see your firm grow and grow.
