Marketing in Professional Services: Doing Less, Better

Marketing in Professional Services: Doing Less, Better

Welcome to my video series. In this one, I want to talk about something that comes up a lot when I work with professional services firms — the idea of doing less, but doing it better.

Most firms are busy.

There’s a newsletter to send, a blog to write, LinkedIn to update, events to support, internal requests coming from all directions.

But just because you’re doing a lot doesn’t mean you’re doing the right things.

If marketing is starting to feel reactive or scattered, it might be time to pause and refocus.

Start by asking what’s really working.

Where are your best leads coming from? What’s driving real conversations or helping the BD team follow up more effectively?

Once you know that, it’s easier to spot what’s worth your time — and what’s just noise.

Then look at the quality of what you’re putting out.

Would you rather send one well-thought-through email campaign that gets results, or four rushed ones that no one reads?

Fewer, stronger activities often give you better impact — and a more consistent brand experience.

And finally, give your team space to think.

When everything’s about speed and volume, strategy goes out the window. Sometimes, doing less actually means creating more headroom for better planning, better messaging, and better execution.

So if your marketing feels like a constant treadmill, step back. Doing less, better, might be exactly what your firm needs.
