Helen Cox Marketing Consultant Kent London B2B Professional Services and Tech Marketing

Marketing and business development speaker for professional services and B2B

I speak at conferences, partner away days and internal team sessions about marketing and business development in professional services and B2B firms.

The sessions are practical rather than inspirational. I use real examples from law firms, accountancy practices and consultancies, and people leave with something they can do rather than a feeling they’ll have forgotten by Friday.

What I speak about

Business development for professionals who don’t want to be salespeople The mindset shift that makes BD possible for people who came into the profession for other reasons. Usually the most requested, and the one that gets the most argument in the room, which is generally a good sign.

Marketing and BD strategy for professional services firms What actually drives growth in a firm, and what just keeps everyone busy. Suits leadership audiences and partner away days.

AI and marketing for professional services Where AI genuinely helps, where it doesn’t, and what firms should be doing about it now rather than waiting to see.

Empowering partners to market themselves Personal brand, thought leadership and visibility, for people who find the whole idea slightly uncomfortable.

Building a marketing function from nothing For firms working out what marketing resource they need and in what order. Good for smaller firms and for managing partner audiences.

If you’ve got a theme in mind that isn’t here, ask. Most of these started as somebody’s specific problem.

Where i speak

  • Conferences and industry events
  • Firm away days and partner conferences
  • Internal team sessions and lunch and learns
  • Professional body events
  • Webinars and online panels

Formats

Keynote or conference talk. Typically 30 to 45 minutes with time for questions.

Away day session. Half a day or a full session, interactive, built around what your firm is actually dealing with.

Panel or fireside chat. Happy to chair or take part.

Webinar. 45 minutes to an hour, online.

Whichever it is, I’ll want a conversation with you beforehand about the audience. A talk pitched at the wrong seniority is the most common reason a good session lands badly, and it’s entirely avoidable.

FAQs

As early as you can, though I can sometimes cover late gaps. If you’ve had a speaker drop out, ask, because the answer is occasionally yes.

Yes, always. That’s what the conversation beforehand is for. A generic talk delivered to a specific audience is the fastest way to lose a room.

The professional services examples travel well to consultancies, B2B businesses and other relationship-led sectors. I’ll adjust the examples to suit whoever’s in the room.

Yes, and plenty of my speaking is internal rather than at conferences. If what you’re after is a structured programme rather than a one-off session, that’s business development training.

Usually, depending on the event and the preparation involved.

Generally yes, just ask beforehand so we can agree what happens with the recording.
