Listen up! Here’s 3 reasons why you need an interim marketing director

The world has become a place that is 24/7, and whilst this can be good in some ways, in others, this can become a real drain. Especially when it comes to running a business.

Marketing has become something you need to be able to deliver better, bigger and more often than ever before, and this means that the pressure that is heaped on those in charge of marketing within a business has grown and grown.

Many businesses will have a good quality marketing and sales strategy in place, but sometimes this just isn’t enough to see them get to where they want to be in the future.

This is where the idea of hiring an interim marketing director can be something that you want to think about.

The idea of an interim marketing director is, as the name suggests, to hire someone who is going to take charge of the marketing within your company, even if it is just for a short period of time.

Considering that any hiring decision within your business will come at a cost, it makes sense that you will want to really think about whether or not hiring an interim marketing director is worthwhile.

To help you make this decision, here are the three main reasons why I believe it makes sense to hire an interim marketing director.

You feel that you could benefit from an outside perspective from a marketing director

Whilst you may know the best for your business, some of your decisions can be blinkered to what you think is right. This is okay if you are an expert in certain key areas, but not the case when it comes to marketing.

An interim marketing director is an expert in marketing, and best placed to make decisions on your business in a marketing sense. From an outside looking in, meaning they will not have any influencing factors to consider.

They can give you advice as to what marketing approaches are going to be able to provide you with the best results and then get to work implementing them. They may even be able to help you in other ways that you may not even realise, especially since they have a wealth of knowledge and experience working with all sorts of different companies, just like yours.

You are not hitting your targets

There is a good chance that you will have set some marketing targets for yourself and your business. The idea is that they are there to give you something to focus on and work towards and, of course, boost your business too.

Targets can vary depending on your fundamental marketing techniques and the nature of your business. However, some main examples include increasing your social media following, bringing more traffic to your website or having the most views on your blog post.

If you find that these targets are just not being met, despite your best efforts, it is time for a change. This change could come in the form of a marketing director who wants to find a brand new way to shoot for the stars.

Your marketing and sales efforts are not aligned

Whilst sales and marketing are separate entities in the business world, the truth is, to make sure that your business is a success, they will need to work together. In perfect harmony.

They are two halves of a coin, and that coin is the growth of your business. They are not the same and never will be, but together they make the full package. An interim marketing director will want to think about how the sales and marketing teams come together when they need to work cohesively.

They can suggest suitable approaches and ensure that those who need to work together do so easily.

I hope this has helped you see why hiring an interim marketing director is the right choice for your business. Sure, it will come at a cost. But, a long-term investment for your business.

After all, you will have someone on board who can guide you to those goals that you have and know which are the main hurdles along the way. All whilst letting you get on with running the rest of your business.
