Easy breezy - evaluating your legal marketing

Helen CoxMarketing is important in the legal industry. It is all too easy to think that you don’t need to worry about marketing your services and instead you can let the clients come to you, but you still need to ensure that you are appealing to your clients as best you can. 

One of the best things to do when it comes to legal marketing is to make sure that you have a marketing strategy. Having a strategy in mind means that you are going to have everything that you need in place in order to make the most of your marketing efforts and also that you are avoiding some of the worst mistakes that you can make.  

If you want to make sure that you get your strategy right, then here are some of my top tips for easy breezy evaluating your marketing. 

Know yourself and your target audience 

How can you ever think about marketing your law firm unless you know who you are and who you are trying to appeal to? When you have this type of information to hand, then you can use it to make sure that you are creating marketing materials that are not only in keeping with your brand and your tone of voice but also your audience and the type of thing that they are going to want to see from you.  

Measure how you are performing 

Unless you measure your performance, then how will you ever know what you are doing is right or not? The best way to measure how you are performing in your marketing is by setting some Key Performance Indicators. These will make sure that you know where you are right now and then also where you want to be and you can follow your progress.  They could be things like website visits, conversions, sales, social media interaction. It really is important for your firm to track progress.

Keep your SEO refreshed 

SEO is a key part of legal marketing and in order to get this right then, you need to be mindful of all your keywords and terms that you need to include in your content. Not only do you need to be able to identify and use these terms in order to create SEO friendly content. You also need to keep on top of your SEO efforts too. You need to make sure that your content is refreshed. Not only is this ideal for Google, but it is also good news for your clients too.  You can use tools such as Uber suggest or keywords express on Google Chrome to help understand what people are searching for.
