Helping an Accountancy Firm Grow with Focused Marketing Mentorship

I recently had the pleasure of working with an accountancy firm based in Greenwich. The firm reached out to me as they were eager to embark on their marketing journey but didn’t know where to begin. They needed guidance on how to get started and wanted a marketing consultant to help them lay the foundation.

Marketing Mentoring and Strategic Advice

The primary goal for the firm was to provide mentoring and advice to their in-house Marketing Assistant. The Marketing Assistant had some knowledge of marketing but needed support to understand what they were doing well and identify areas for improvement. My role was to provide clarity, ensuring they had the confidence and tools to manage the firm’s marketing effectively.

We began with a series of mentoring sessions, where I assessed their current marketing activities. The idea was to create a clear roadmap for the Marketing Assistant, showing them where to focus their efforts and how to develop a more strategic approach. These sessions allowed us to build a solid foundation that would empower her to handle future marketing tasks independently.

Getting Back to Basics

One of the first things I noticed was that their marketing channels weren’t being fully utilised. The website, in particular, was underperforming—its SEO was weak, and the site wasn’t optimised for local search, which was a key objective for the firm. With a strong local presence being crucial for their business, we needed to act fast.

We spent time during the mentoring session focusing on the website’s SEO. I guided the Marketing Assistant through implementing crucial SEO changes right away, ensuring that the firm’s site became more visible to local clients searching for accountancy services. This hands-on approach helped the Marketing Assistant gain a deeper understanding of SEO and how it could directly impact the firm’s growth.

Next Steps: Website Restructure and Social Media Strategy

Following the SEO work, we began looking at the next priority—the website restructure. A well-structured, easy-to-navigate website is essential for client engagement and conversion, so we started mapping out the changes needed to improve user experience.

In addition to the website overhaul, we discussed the importance of building a strong social media and content strategy. Social media can be a powerful tool for raising brand awareness and engaging potential clients, so we outlined a plan to develop content that would resonate with their target audience. We also explored ways to repurpose existing content, making their marketing more efficient.

Seeing Results and Moving Forward

The feedback from the firm has been very positive. The mentoring sessions have been valuable in guiding their Marketing Assistant through essential marketing principles, helping them to focus on the right priorities. In just a short time, they’ve already seen improvements in their SEO rankings, which has boosted their visibility in local search results.

The firm is well on its way to building a comprehensive marketing strategy that will not only strengthen their local presence but also help them grow in the long term.
