Hello everyone and welcome to my video series. Today I just wanted to talk to you about a couple of reasons why you might be interested in or why a fractional marketing director could be good for your professional service business.
I came across the term fractional marketing a couple of years ago. I hadn’t heard of it before, and you might not have too, but really it’s about bringing in resource on maybe a couple of days, a week or a month to help you with particular marketing challenges.

And the beauty of it is a fractional marketing director can be really, really cost effective.
So if you don’t have the budget to bring in a marketing director full time, you can bring in someone with the skills of a marketing director for a fraction of the cost for as many days as you need. So it gives you that ability to control your costs.

Another really good reason to bring in a fractional marketing director is they will have a completely objective view on your marketing. They will come in and be very non-judgmental and will constructively criticise where things are going right and wrong. If you’ve asked, for instance, for a review.
You’ll have someone with fresh eyes, fresh ears on a particular project or your marketing team or your marketing activity where you can actually ask them what you think is going right and what’s not going right and pulling on their experience to understand whether you can implement anything different to help you.

Another reason why you should have a marketing director, is there going to be someone that you can trust to bring in to manage particular projects. So if you have a rebrand coming up or you need to recruit a marketing person, or you need somebody who’s going to sit with the board and talk them through the latest marketing strategy, then they will be able to do that for you.
They can work on specific projects and you can bring them in as needed. And each fractional marketing director that you work with will have different skillset sets. So they might have skill sets in marketing or BD or campaigns or client listening or whatever it is that they do, but you can have the right skill sets with the right sector expertise that can come in and help you with the projects that you need.
In short, there’s probably a million other reasons, they’re cost effective. They are able to help you with projects as and when you need them, and they’re kind of a second pair of eyes and ears on your marketing and a fresh perspective is always good.
