Making your website chirp with voice search
Searching for things online is changing. Whilst we can still type in our searches in our chosen search engine. We can now also utilise the power of voice searches too. Voice searches were created and have grown in popularity all thanks to the gadgets and technology that uses them. Things such as Alexa and Google Home.
It is thanks to these gadgets that it is believed that voice searches will rise over the next year. In fact, it is thought that by the close of 2020, at least 50% of all the searches that we make will be voice based.
With the development of voice searches, this has meant that businesses are having to rethink the way that they put together their content (and therefore how it can then be searched for).
They don’t work the same as text searches
The most important thing to remember is that text searches do not work in the same way as voice searches. When you type something into Google you are going to keep it as simple and as short as possible. However, when you are asking a question with your voice, it is just that, a question.
This means that the words that you use and how they are phrased is going to be longer and usually more conversational.
No more keyword stuffing
With search queries becoming more like asking your friend a question. The way that content is presented online needs to be changed. With text searches, keyword stuffing seemed to be the norm. Fit in as many small keywords that relate to your business as you can into your content and you are sure to be found.
When you are using voice search, you are going to need to rely more on quality long-tail keywords being included in your content. These are what is going to be picked up by those search bots. This will really help you to stand out when the big question is asked.
Use FAQ’s where you can
Voice searches are usually incredibly specific in their nature. Which means that the answers that they search for need to be specific too. It can be hard to add really specific text to your website, but what you can do is use pages as FAQ’s in order to provide those answers. Again, you need to be clever with your keyword usage here and instead think about how you can make them work for you.
Think about local searches
One final thing to keep in mind is that local searches are an important factor of voice search. You are likely to want to find things that are close to you. This means that it has never been more important to ensure that you think about adding local pages on your website.
Voice searches are an important part of our future; which means that all businesses need to be on board. Making sure that they focus on how to use them to their advantage and be successful in yet another form of marketing.
