When people talk about AI in marketing, it can feel a bit overwhelming or, honestly, a bit fluffy. But it doesn’t have to be.

If you’re looking to save time, improve content, or just get more out of your day-to-day marketing, there are some really practical ways to start using AI right now. Nothing complicated. Just simple, helpful tools that make your life easier.

Here’s what I recommend:

Start by using AI to speed things up, not to do all the work

You can use tools like ChatGPT to help draft blog outlines, summarise content, or repurpose a LinkedIn post into an email. But don’t just copy and paste what it gives you. Think of it like a junior assistant. Helpful, but it still needs your direction.

Create a prompt library

This is a quick win. Build a set of clear, structured prompts you can reuse. Things like “Write a LinkedIn post in my tone of voice about X” or “Summarise this blog for a client email.” It saves time and keeps your content consistent.

Repurpose what you already have

If you wrote a great article earlier this year, don’t let it gather dust. Ask AI to turn it into a short video script, a social post, or an email for clients. You’ve already done the hard work, so get more value from it.

Be specific with your prompts

Vague prompts lead to vague answers. Instead of “Write me something about marketing,” try “Act as a B2B marketing expert. Write a 500-word blog for a mid-sized law firm about using content to improve lead generation.” Be clear on audience, tone, and purpose.

Watch your data

This one’s important. Don’t put any confidential client information into AI tools. Keep it high level, anonymised, or use published material only.

And finally, just pick one thing to try

You don’t need a full AI strategy to get started. Use it to help with your next blog, tidy up some email copy, or summarise meeting notes. Start small, see what works, and build from there.
